Lingerie Football League visit Moda to encourage lingerie brands to join the fight for gender equality!
Lingerie Football League team attended Moda, the international fashion exhibition, February 2016, NEC Birmingham, to help promote our cause, the fight for gender equality. Moda saw the launch of a new, dedicated, more intimate and focused hall exclusively for Lingerie & Swimwear! Moda is home to over 200 of the industry’s most sought after brands and a fabulous platform for new and emerging design talent. We were lucky enough to attend all three days and the response we received from the brands was absolutely remarkable!
To further promote our cause, the fight for gender equality; with help from the brands we are creating the largest online lingerie video library in Europe at our studio base at the University of Central Lancashire.
Day 1 Sunday 21st February 2016 9.30am the exhibition began! Coach Terri, wearing the Lingerie Football League kit, doing kick ups. The lovely Sarah at Lingerie Insight was so kind to write an article about us attending Moda and our cause to fight gender equality http://www.lingerieinsight.com/article-6936-lingerie-football-league-aims-to-score-at-moda/ , but to those who weren’t aware of who we are we thought it would be best to explain…
Lingerie Football League is a new organisation; we play football and fight for gender equality. At Lingerie Football League we pride ourselves on being role models for the younger generation, we are strong and fit, not soft and weak and we have a real passion for football. We train properly and we are extremely ambitious, dedicated women who play good football. Our aim is to close the gender wage gap by generating media coverage and commercial investment in women’s football.
The press coverage we have had in just over 8 weeks has been phenomenal. We have received national newspaper coverage in The Mirror, The Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Star and online in Huffington Post as well as dozens of other publications all over the world. In January 2016 we appeared on BBC news and Victoria Derbyshire Show on BBC 2. We are taking part in a television documentary about women’s football produced by an independent filmmaker as well as filming a documentary with BBC 3 entirely about Lingerie Football League. Our YouTube channel received over 200,000 views in the last 2 months.
To help to promote our cause, the fight for gender equality, over the three days we spoke with every lingerie & swimwear brand asking them to donate as many samples as they can so we can shoot thousands of items on catwalk at our studio! We will create the largest online lingerie video library in Europe, Shimmy Lingerie Video Project, the scale of the project will attract support in the fight for gender equality. Any brand that takes part will receive high quality video of their merchandise to embed on their website/social media.
After 3 days at Moda we have the support of more than 60 brands working with us, fighting for gender equality!
